High Fives and Good Vibes” — This is the phrase we use when asked what Champ Camp Skate is all about. Beyond teaching kids the fundamentals, what kinds of boards are out there, the intricacies of the pancake flip, whether their stance is ‘regular’ or ‘goofy,’ etc., there’s something far more important going on that lays the foundation of our entire operation. This elusive ‘thing’ is a fun, supportive, and encouraging environment, and it’s the secret sauce to everything we do. By curating a palpable atmosphere of positivity around skateboarding, kids of all ages and levels are able to engage with one another and are comfortable and confident to learn at their own pace. Or, put much more concisely, ‘High Fives’ inspire ‘Good Vibes.’ For a more detailed breakdown of the cornerstones that get us to this powerful place, here’s what being a SKATE C.H.A.M.P. means to us...

COMMUNITY

Born out of Southern California counter-culture, skateboarding is integral to the Golden State’s pulse. Welcome to our skateboarding family, one that accepts all ages, sexes, races, and backgrounds. In our experience, skateboarding provides us with a unique perspective of the outside world while developing a vast network of friends. The bonds made between skaters at Champ Camp Skate will continue long after formal instruction has finished.

HAPPINESS

Simply put, Champ Camp Skate exists to facilitate fun. Skateboarding requires dedication and practice. The feeling of happiness and accomplishment that accompanies learning a new trick is almost impossible to describe. Our experienced coaches want to share this feeling by introducing the fundamentals in the correct and safest way possible. After learning the basics, the only way to go is up, having countless hours of fun in the process!

Champ Camp Skate Autonomy.jpg

AUTONOMY

Skateboarding, unlike traditional team sports, promotes individuality. Rather than feeling the stressful pressure of coaches or teammates, skateboarders progress at their own pace. The personal goals we achieve at Champ Camp Skate are a direct result of our own efforts. We learn that by imagining a particular trick in our minds, we are capable of achieving it. This invaluable lesson can be applied to any difficulties we face in life.

Champ Camp Skate Movement.JPG

MOVEMENT

The key to life is movement, so keep the momentum going! Even when we fall, we pick ourselves up and try again. More abstractly, skateboarding is growing as a cultural movement. What started as a hobby on the fringes of society, skateboarding has grown now more than ever. At Champ Camp Skate it is plain to see that life is more enjoyable when we are rolling. Join the revolution of fun!

PLAY

At Champ Camp Skate, we live by this saying: “You did not quit skating because you got too old, but you got too old because you quit skating.” As demonstrated by our coaches, they still love to play on their skateboards, even after twenty years! We see the whole world as a playground. Whether it be in the skatepark or on the streets, we aim to enjoy ourselves wherever we go!
