Pterodactyl!

For the most part, kids could care less about the safety protocols that we go over at camp. Understandably, they’d rather jump right into the fun stuff. This means that a big part of our job is to turn the “safety” stuff into the “fun” stuff (since you can’t have one without the other, but we digress).

Amid the COVID era, we’ve obviously ramped our safety protocols way up, but they’re just words unless we get camper buy-in. So, how do we begin to keep campers safely distanced while maintaining the fun and lighthearted environment necessary for a meaningful camp experience?

Enter “Pterodactyl.” Anytime we blurt this word out, it’s a fun reminder for our kiddos to mimic the winged Reptile by spreading their arms to make sure they stay a safe distance from one another.

Although simple and silly on the surface, this code word is one of many keys that merge Safety with Fun, and enable us to keep the good vibes rollin’!
